IWCP - 15 February 1908 - Newport - DEATH OF A PRINCIPAL WARDER. - The death occurred on Tuesday, at Maydene, Hunnyhill, of Principal Warder W. Simmonds, at the age of 58. The deceased, who was a native of Bowcombe, had been in the Prison service for 32 tears, and for six years had been principal warder. He was a member of the Newport Conservative Club and was greatly respected by all who knew him.
