Hampshire Advertiser - 7 December 1870 - NEWPORT - THE LATE MR. RICHARD SMITH HEARN - In our obituary is recorded the demise of Mr. Richard Smith Hearn, a much respected inhabitant of this town, whose father and grandfather occupied Heasley Farm, in the parish of Arreton. Deceased was relieving officer of Newport district 33 years, and whilst faithfully discharging his duties to the Board of Guardians on the one hand, he was ever kindly considerate in ministering to the necessities of the poor.
