Isle of Wight County Press - 10 May 1902 - NEWPORT - ODDFELLOW'S FUNERAL. - The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon at St. Paul's, Barton, Cemetery of Mr. J. Butcher, of Victoria-road, who died on Sunday last. The deceased, who was formerly employed at Messrs. Wheeler and Hurst's foundry, leaves a wife and family, for whom much sympathy is felt. He was a member of the "Jack of Newbury" Lodge of Oddfellows, and several of the local Lodge of Oddfellows attended the funeral. The Vicar of Newport (the Rev. H. Edmund Sharpe) officiated and the Oddfellows' service was read at the graveside by Bros. T. H. Waldren, the district lecture master.
