IWCP - 18 August 1894 - NEWPORT - SALVATION ARMY FUNERAL. - On Tuesday afternoon the mortal remains of the wife of "Sergt.-Major" Rogers, of the local corps of the Salvation Army, were interred at Carisbrooke Cemetery with the impressive ceremony peculiar to the Army. The brass band accompanied the cortege playing "Rock of ages." There was a large number of members and friends presents, "Capt." Mann, of Southsea, conducted the service. Ernest exhortations were delivered at the grave by the husband of deceased and others, and hymns were sung. There were a number of floral tributes on the coffin from sorrowing relatives and friends.
