IWCP – 18 February 1899 – Rookley – NEARLY A NONAGENARIAN. – A former well-known inhabitant in the person of Mr. William Rolf passed away at Parkhurst infirmary at the end of last week, at the age of 89. Deceased was a native of Brighstone and removed to Rookley some 31 years ago. Losing his eyesight about eight years ago, he expressed a wish to go to the infirmary, where he was well looked after by the officers and frequently visited by his children. He enjoyed good health. Deceased was interred on Tuesday at Carisbrooke Cemetery by the side [??] of his wife, who died 32 year ago, the Rev. J.C. Sweet officiating, whilst Mr. Grant carried out the funeral arrangements.
