IWCP - 4 December 1915 - CARISBROOKE - OCTOGENARIAN'S DEATH. - The death occurred on Tuesday, at the age of 85, of Mr. Ben. Sanders, eighth and only surviving member of the family of the late Mr. James Sanders, who 60 years ago succeeded to the well known market gardener's business there in partnership with his brother, the late Mr. Joseph Sanders, C.C. He was a stanch Liberal and an active worker in Island Elections dating back for more than 60 years, to the times of Sir John Simeon and Sir Charles C. Clifford. He twice unsuccessfully contested the North Ward in Newport Municipal Electrions. The funeral will take place to-day.
