Isle of Wight County Press – 15 September 1917 - Newport – DEATH OF MRS. W. M. ALDERSLADE – Much sympathy is felt with Mr. W. M. Alderslade and family in the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Alice (Bessie) Alderslade, which took place on the 4th inst. at Rockleigh, Medina Avenue, after a long illness patiently borne. Deceased, who was the daughter of the late Mr. J. V. Trickett and of Mrs. Trickett, of Clifford-street, will be remembered as a valued and much respected assistant teacher under the Borough Education Authority, at the Barton Boys’ School, from which she received a presentation on her marriage. The funeral took place yesterday week at Carisbrooke Cemetery, the Rev. C. E. Thompson (vicar of Newport) officiating. The mourners were Mr. W. M. Alderslade (husband), Miss Trickett, Mrs. H. G. Smith and Mrs. Austin Switzer (sisters), Mrs. E. F. Bath (aunt), Mr. J. K. Alderslade (father-in-law), Mr. H. G. Smith, Mr. A. Abraham, Mr. F. Spanner, Mr. J. S. Alderslade (brothers-in-law), Mr. T. Hutt (Shanklin), Nurse Cross, and Dr. J. S. McKay. There were a large number of beautiful floral souvenirs.
