Hampshire Advertiser - 27 November 1858 – DEATHS – On Friday last, after a short illness, at Ryde, Mr. John Caplen, draper, only son of Robert Caplen, Esq., of Carisbrooke, and son-in-law of F. H. Withers, Esq., of Hampshire Bank, Newport, aged 33, deservedly beloved and respected by all who knew him, and greatly lamented by a large circle of friends.
