IWCP - 25 April 1936 - Newport - OCTOGENARIAN RESIDENT'S DEATH. - One who was a well known figure in the town, Mr. Thomas Morgan, residing with his daughter at 18 Drill Hall-road, passed away yesterday (Friday) in his 89th year. Mr. Morgan was a native of Chillerton where he, and two generations of his family before him, carried on the carpentry and wheelwrights' business on the village green. Mr. Morgan gave up the business about 36 years ago and had since resided in Newport. His wife died four years ago at the age of 80, and he leaves three sons and two daughters. Mr. Morgan, who was a member of the old Hand-in-Hand Friendly Society, comes of a long-lived stock. A sister recently passed away at Shanklin, aged 82, and a brother, aged 80, lives at Blackwater.
