IWCP 2 October 1943 - NEWPORT - The Funeral - took place on Monday of Mr. Oliver James Leal, aged 83, a retired builder, who has resided all his life in Newport. The Rev. W. H. Mackinnon officiated at a service in St. John’s Church and at the interment in Carisbrooke Cemetery. The mourners were Mr. W. O. Leal (son), Miss M. and Miss F. Leal (daughters), Mr. H. J. T. Leal (grandson), Mr. A. Leal (brother), Mr. G. Barnes (nephew), Mr. and Mrs. Lambert (nephew and niece), Mrs. Angell, Mrs. Dollery, and Miss Barnes (nieces), Miss M. E. Reid, and Dr. Peskett. Friends at the service included Mr. Crews, Mr. Matthews, and Mrs. Young. Miss Dorothy Welby Pryer L.R.A.M., was at the organ. Messrs. Hamilton and Son made the arrangements.
