Isle of Wight County Press - 27 February 2015 - Body at chine. THE body of missing man Virgil Balmer has been found. At around 1.30pm on Tuesday, a body was found at Luccombe Chine by a member of the public. It has been formally identified as Mr. Balmer, a spokesman for the IW Coroner has confirmed. Mr. Balmer, 54, went missing from his home at Scarrots Lane, Newport, on Sunday, prompting an Islandwide search. He suffered from muscular dystrophy, and it was feared he could collapse without his medication. Police said they were not treating his death as suspicious and a file has been passed to the coroner.
