Isle of Wight County Press - 20 Sept 1969 - NEWPORT - The Late Mr. W. C. Trowbridge. - The death occurred on Monday week of Mr. William Charles Trowbridge, aged 83, of 12 Hearn Street. Born at Rowborough, he lived all his life on the Island. He started work at the age of 12 with Messrs. Shepard Bros. on their coastal cargo boats and continued for 60 years through successive changes of ownership, finally being employed by B.R.S. At the time of the Dunkirk evacuation he was master of the m.v. Bee and answered the call for assistance making several trips to the Dunkirk beaches to ferry back troops.
