Hampshire Advertiser - 20 July 1872 - DEATHS. - On the 18th inst., suddenly, at 119 High-street, Newport, Mr. William Henry Meager, of the firm of Meager and Son, tailors, aged 59.

Hampshire Independent - 20 July 1872 - NEWPORT - DEATHS OF WELL_KNOWN TOWNSMEN - During the present week Newport has lost two leading tradesmen, who both stood high in the estimation of their fellows. Mr. Harris.....and on Thursday might Mr. W. W. Meager, outfitter, of the High-street, expired with alarming suddenness. Though not very advanced in years, Mr. Meager was, in point of experience and residence, one of the oldest tradesmen in Newport, having been in business here nearly forty years. He was greatly esteemed by those who had pleasure of his personal acquaintance, and he won the respect and confidence of all who had business transactions with him.
