IWCP - 21 September 1918 - Newport - THE FUNERAL - took place on Thursday of Mr. William Matthews, of 52 South-street, a veteran soldier, with 19 years' service in India, who has four sons serving in the war, three of whom, being on active service, were unable to attend the funeral. Deceased, who was highly respected, was for many years employed by Mr. H. Jupe, of Commercial-road.
