IWCP - 7 December 1918 - PARKHURST - A PRISON WARDER'S FUNERAL. - The funeral took place at Carisbrooke on Monday of Mr. Sydney Young, prison-warder at Parkhurst, who died the previous Friday from pneumonia at the age of 33. He served in the Navy before emigrating to Australia a few years ago. Joining the Australian Imperial Force he saw active service in France, and was invalided. The greatest sympathy is felt with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Young, Bush Cottage, Ventnor. The mourners were the widow, the father and mother, the Misses Elsie and Amy Young (sisters), Mrs. M. Young and Mrs. Loader (aunts), and Sister M. Lane. The deceased's parents recently received news that their second son had died at Kut.
