IWCP - 20 July 1901 - Newport - COMRADES' TRIBUTE. At the funeral on Sunday last of Ivy Ellen, eldest daughter of Staff-Sergt. F. H. Spanner, of the R.A. staff, Bombay, a native of this town, who is home on leave, four Artillery trumpeters from Freshwater attended as a tribute of respect to a sorrowing comrade and acted as bearers. The interment took place at Newport Cemetery, the Rev. W. F. May (Bible Christian) officiating.
